Pickleball in Susanville, California

Susanville pickleball is based at the refurbished multi-use courts beside Memorial Park. The court area supports six pickleball courts and remains the home of the Lassen Pickleball Club. Local players gather for early morning games, and the club has built a real event scene through round robins and the annual Susanville Pickleball Open. The outdoor setting works well through much of the year. Cold weather, snow, and shorter winter daylight can limit play.

Pickleball Courts in Susanville

Memorial Park Courts

1200 North Street, Susanville, CA 96130

The Memorial Park court area has two resurfaced tennis courts striped to create six pickleball courts. The courts are open to the public during park hours from dawn to dusk. This is a multi-use court complex, not a set of standalone pickleball courts, so players should respect tennis use and any scheduled club or tournament periods.

Memorial Park also has restrooms, picnic areas, a playground, baseball fields, a basketball court, a swimming pool, and open lawn. The central location makes it easy for families or groups to combine a game with other park activities. Use the Memorial Park page for current park information.

The city completed major court repairs and resurfacing in 2024. The improved surface now supports regular local play and tournament use. Bring paddles and balls. Organized morning sessions may collect a small player fee, so club play is different from ordinary public court access.

Pickleball Lessons in Susanville

New players should start with the Lassen Pickleball Club's morning group at Memorial Park. Games begin at 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and newer players can connect with experienced local players in the same place used for regular community play. Join the Lassen Pickleball Club group and introduce yourself before attending so the group can match you with a suitable level.

A first session should cover serving, scoring, the two bounce rule, kitchen positioning, paddle safety, and the local rotation system. Players who want focused instruction can use the Coaches section to arrange a private or small group lesson at Memorial Park. This is a practical fallback when the club does not have a dated beginner clinic open for registration.

Susanville Pickleball Open Play and Events

The Lassen Pickleball Club organizes morning play at Memorial Park from Monday through Saturday at 7 a.m. This is the most dependable recurring Susanville pickleball open play. Morning sessions avoid the hottest part of summer days and leave the courts available for general public use later in the day.

The club also organizes tournaments at Memorial Park. The first Susanville tournament drew 48 players in a team round robin format after the courts were resurfaced. The second annual Susanville Anytime Fitness Pickleball Open ran July 31 and August 1, 2026, as part of Susanville Family Fun Day. That tournament has ended and is not an upcoming event. Follow the Lassen Pickleball Club for the next registration announcement.

Players can also create and join local sessions through the Lassen County PlayTime Scheduler. The scheduler is useful for afternoon games, skill specific groups, or dates outside the club's regular morning pattern.

Playing Pickleball in Susanville as a Visitor

Visitors bringing partners can use the Memorial Park courts from dawn to dusk. Bring paddles and balls, use the North Street entrance, and plan for an outdoor multi-use surface. The park's restrooms, picnic space, and playground make it a simple stop for groups and families.

A solo visitor should connect with the Lassen Pickleball Club and attend the 7 a.m. morning session. State your level and visit date in the club group before arriving. The recurring group gives a solo player a clear route into games without needing to find three partners in advance.

The Lassen County scheduling page is another practical option when the morning time does not fit. Create or join a session and check the player count before leaving. Winter visitors should expect snow or ice to interrupt outdoor play. Susanville does not currently publish a recurring indoor pickleball program, so the club is the main source for any temporary indoor arrangement.
